The verdict was announced in the Hrant Dink murder case, which took place at the 14th Higher Criminal Court in Istanbul and where 76 defendants were tried.
Former police chief Ali Fuat Yılmazer and Ramazan Akyürek, among the defendants arrested in the case, were sentenced to aggravated life in prison for deliberate murder. Furthermore, the former director of the Istanbul police intelligence branch, Yılmazer, was sentenced to 4 years and 6 months in prison for destroying the official document, and Akyürek, former Trabzon provincial police chief, for the same crime.
The court decided to separate the files of 13 defendants, including Fethullah Gülen, former prosecutor Zekeriya Öz, Ekrem Dumanlı and Adem Yavuz Arslan.
The court also filed a criminal complaint against Ogün Samast, Erhan Tuncel and Yasin Hayal for “membership of FETÖ” with the Istanbul Prosecutor General’s Office.
Due to the statute of limitations, it was decided that the file against the defendants without arrest, the former head of the Intelligence Department of the General Directorate of Security, Sabri Uzun, and the former director of the Istanbul Provincial Police, Celalettin Cerrah.
The defendant arrested in the case, former soldier Muharrem Demirkale, was sentenced to two aggravated life sentences, former NCO Yavuz Karakaya of the Istanbul Gendarmerie Intelligence Directorate was sentenced to life imprisonment for “violating the constitution” and 12 years and 6 months in prison for “intentionally helping to kill.” Ali Öz, a former commander of the Trabzon provincial gendarmerie, was sentenced to 28 years in prison.
Defendants Okan Şimşek, Veysel Şahin and Gazi Günay were sentenced to 25 years in prison for deliberate murder and 3 years and 4 months in prison for falsifying official documents.
Osman Gülbel was sentenced to 16 years and 8 months in prison for committing deliberate manslaughter with negligent behavior.
Ercan Gün, who is detained at the trial, was sentenced to 10 years in prison for “belonging to an armed terrorist organization FETÖ”, Özkan Mumcu to 7 years and 6 months in prison for the same crime, Abdullah Dinç and Ahmet Faruk Aydoğdu to 6 years and 3 months in prison for the same crime, Metin Balta is the same. Şükrü Yıldız was sentenced to 3 years and 9 months in prison for the same crime.
Hasan Durmuşoğlu was sentenced to 12 years and 6 months in prison for negligent murder, 3 years and 9 months for destroying the official document and Bekir Yokuş to 10 years in prison for collaborating in the crime of deliberate murder. Önder Araz was sentenced to 3 years and 9 months in prison on charges of destroying the official document.
While Mehmet Ali Özkılınç was sentenced to 7 years and 6 months in prison for being a member of a terrorist organization, 1 year and 18 months in prison for nepotism, Mehmet Ayan and Uğur Karakaya were sentenced to 12 years and 6 months in prison.
