Vincent van Gogh: The Starry Night Got Enough Votes in LEGO Ideas
The 1,552-piece Vincent van Gogh: The Starry Night set was created by a LEGO Ideas Club member named Legotruman. Since he is a fan of LEGO and Van Gogh works, he has combined these two passions. While the set is in the idea stage Collecting more than 10 thousand votes received sufficient support and was approved for production. This indicates that very soon the iconic Starry Night painting could be built in 3D LEGO.
For the LEGO version of the painting, Van Gogh’s iconic brush strokes are represented by short, thin blocks in multiple shades. The set even includes a miniature figure of Van Gogh painting a miniature painting of “Starry Night” on his easel, with a brush and palette in hand.
Van Gogh painted the Starry Night during his stay at a mental health facility in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence in 1889. In the painting, he depicted the landscape that he saw when he looked out the barred window of his room just before dawn. A year after Van Gogh made this painting, he shot himself in a wheat field and died two days later.
