Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) will make its first export from Turkey in the space field.
According to the statement of the Presidency of the Defense Industry (SSB), TAI, which is an association of the Presidency and Foundation of the Turkish Armed Forces, has taken an important step in space and satellite projects. GSATCOM Space Systems Inc., a subsidiary of TAI in the space field, will export “High Power Output HTS Communications Satellite” technologies for ARSAT SA, Argentina’s national telecommunications company.
Established in partnership with TUSAŞ and Argentina-based INVAP SE in Ankara METU Technopolis, GSATCOM Space Technologies AŞ launched its next-generation communications satellite development program in 2019 that will provide significant advantages in the international market. The company carries out the first international sale of new generation communication technologies, of which it fully owns the intellectual and industrial property rights, to Argentina.
TAI Within the framework of the project, various satellite subsystems, carrying out sales of engineering equipment and services, will make their first export from Turkey in the space field.
With the GSATCOM license, the production of the ARSAT-SG1 communications satellite, which is scheduled to be developed in 3 years by engineers from TAI, GSATCOM and INVAP, will be completed in 2024. The satellite, which will serve in synchronous Earth orbit, it will have strategic advantages that incorporate many technological innovations.
The new generation ARSAT-SG1 satellite, which will be used for civil data transfer and has an all-electric propulsion system, is expected to be in an important technological position among its peers in the world with an output capacity exceeding 50 Gbps in Ka Band.
In the area of exporting space technologies from TUSAŞ, in addition to the sale of the ARSAT-SG1 satellite, it continues working on other export projects that it intends to complete in the short term.
