A Panama-flagged dry cargo ship traveling from Istanbul to Russia was washed ashore in Beykoz last night due to a machine failure.

The teams from the Directorate General for Coastal Safety, who were in contact with the ship’s personnel off Beykoz Riva, had interrupted rescue work overnight due to adverse weather conditions and the good condition of the ship.

Rescue crews and tugboats were on alert for the negativities that could develop overnight at the ship’s anchor site.

Rescue efforts began after assessing the situation with the air light.

Nene Hatun’s emergency response vessel attached a chain to the empty dry cargo ship.

Around 10:30, the ship was removed from its location and suspended.

The Coast Guard ship of the Marmara and Straits Regional Command TCSG-906 accompanied the rescue efforts.
